In a similar move to 1956 invasion of independent Hungary, Soviet Union with so called puppet Warsaw Pact countries invaded Soviet made Chechoslovakia, now a former republic in central Europe; peacefully divided into Czech Republic and Slovakia on 1.1.1993. Czechoslovakia was in danger of being swept away by a popular democratic uprising and the USSR crushed this revolt to bring its people 'freedom'!
