Project-management-overview.gif

While effective project management has become widely recognised as an efficient method for delivering change, as business becomes more complex, projects struggle to deliver the required benefits in isolation. An organisational approach to project management is becoming an increasingly important requirement for enabling the development of methods that assist organisations in managing a portfolio or program of projects, by which strategic objectives can be executed.

Expansion to Melbourne

The PM-Partners Group has officially expanded its project management services to Melbourne. The overwhelming demand for a Melbourne project management firm after building important business relationships with the aforementioned clients was the catalyst behind PM-Partners Group’s decision to officially open its doors to the industry with a Melbourne-based service and training centre. Resolutely, PM-Partners Group now offers a multitude of project management services to Melbourne including training and certification, project delivery, performance improvement and Project management office (PMO) support.

At present, we employ over 20 Melbourne project management consultants servicing the city. The deployment of so many Melbourne-based project management professionals demonstrates our commitment to the region, having invested heavily in expanding our infrastructure and customer service personnel.

P3O Foundation to Practitioner Workshop (PMO)

(P3O®) is the latest best practice guidance from the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) addressing this functionality.

The P3O® workshop provides a decision and delivery support structure for enabling change within an organisation. This may be provided through a single permanent office such as, for example the Portfolio Office, Centre of Excellence, Enterprise or Corporate Programme Office. Alternatively it may be provided through a linked set of offices (portfolio office, programme offices, project offices).

PRINCE2® Foundation Level/PRINCE2® Practitioner Level

PRINCE2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) is a process-based method for effective project management and is a globally recognised project management methodology. Originating from the UK, it is based on the Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2® (by the OGC).

PRINCE2® is used extensively in more than 150 countries across the world. It is widely considered as the leading method in project management, with in excess of 20,000 organizations benefiting from its trusted approach. The PRINCE2 training has the following objectives:

  • Understand the benefits PRINCE2® brings to an organisation’s project and business environment.
  • Understand, apply and use PRINCE2® to deliver projects
  • Address and manage risks, complexity and issues using PRINCE2®
  • Understand PRINCE2® terminology as compared with other project management guides eg PMBOK®. guide
  • Prepare candidates for taking the Foundation and Practitioner examinations

PRINCE2 History

PRINCE was established in 1989 by CCTA (the Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency), since renamed the OGC (the Office of Government Commerce). PRINCE was originally based on PROMPT, a project management method created by Simpact Systems Ltd in 1975. PROMPT was adopted by CCTA in 1979 as the standard to be used for all Government information system projects.

When PRINCE was launched in 1989, it effectively superseded PROMPT within Government projects. PRINCE remains in the public domain and copyright is retained by the Crown. PRINCE is a registered trademark of OGC.

PRINCE2 was published in 1996, having been contributed to by a consortium of some 150 European organisations.
