"Miss Clit", the stage name and alternative persona of Shannon Thier (aka "Sheigh Zam") who performs as secretary for Blowfly, the stage name and alternate persona of Clarence Reid (born February 14, 1945 in Cochran, Georgia)[1] who was a songwriter for many hit R&B acts in the 1960s and 1970s. He has penned songs for the likes of K.C. and the Sunshine Band, Gwen McRae, Betty Wright, and Sam and Dave. He has performed with Jello Biafra, Rudy Ray Moore (aka Dolemite), Fishbone and Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea. His music has been sampled by many rappers, including The Jurassic 5, (whose hit "Quality Control" is backed by the outro from Weird World Of Blowfly), Ice Cube, Atmosphere and Puff Daddy. Blowfly is regarded as being the first rapper with his 1965 "Rap Dirty" record, which was re-recorded for disco giants T.K. Records after the smash success of Sugar Hill Gang's "Rapper's Delight."[2] The notoriety of Miss Clit stems from her live performances with Blowfly as his personal secretary on his award-winning song "First Black President", in addition to contributing vocal tracks to his Alternative Tentacles-released "Punk Rock Party" under alternative pseudonym Sheigh Zam!
Establishment of the "Miss Clit" Character
Although released stateside in September 17, 1996 on Pandisc Music Corporation,[3] Blowfly's song "First Black President" which featured the original on-album Miss Clit, debuted in Europe in 1980. Upon being interviewed by the L.A. Record, Blowfly responded to the interviewer's question: "How is your music received in Europe?" with "I had a record out in 1980—'When I Become President'—and I had this song ‘First Black President’ and I ended up doing shit with my secretary, Miss Clit—what I called her. After that it was a coincidence that President Clinton and Monica Lewinsky did the same shit that I had on my record. It’s a coincidence, but the Germans thought that they copied me."[4] Due to the song's immense popularity among cult fans, it was re-released in November 4, 2008 in MP3 format.[5]
Information Regarding Most Recent Personification of Miss Clit
The "First Black President" song features a verbal duet between rap legend Blowfly & his secretary counterpart, Miss Clit who was "hired" to run Blowfly's daily operations, which entailed permitting a parody of guests such as Mr. Superfly Jackson of the United Pimp's Association and Pope John Paul to demand repayment from Blowfly for past favors they had done for him in exchange for Blowfly's simulated use of illegal substances such as cocaine & marijuana. Although the original voice of Miss Clit was portrayed decades ago, the most recent namesake is Shannon Thier aka "Sheigh Zam", who also contributed as back-up/cheerleading vocals on Blowfly's "Punk Rock Party" album, which was released on legendary punk label Alternative Tentacles in 2006,[6] as well as Blowfly's 7" single "F U in the A" produced by DJ Spam of the Spam All Stars.[7] Additional third-party objective information about Miss Clit can be found on Answers.com regarding vital importance to Blowfly's recent live performances as well as recorded history with Blowfly on "Punk Rock Party".
